BHARATANATYAM:Bharatanaatyama is the most famous classical dance form of India which originated in Tamilnadu state.BHARATANATYAM came from the words BHAA RA TA denoting bhava (expression), raga (music) and tala (rhythm).
KUCHIPUDI: The famous classical dance form Kuchipudi was named after its place of origin,KUCHELAPURAM, a village in Andhra Pradesh.
KATHAKALI: Kathakali classical dance was born in the temples of Kerala. It originated from the words Katha(means story) and Kali(means drama).
KATHAK: KATHAK dance form originated in Uttar Pradesh. It literally means story telling through dance.
MANIPURI: Manipuri, one of the main styles of Indian Art or Classical Dances originated in the picturesque and secluded state of Manipur in the north-eastern corner of India.
ODISSI: Odissi is a dance form that that originated in the state of Odisha.
MOHINIYATTAM: It is a famous dance form that originated in 16th century in the state of Kerala.Mohini means a beautiful woman and yattam means dance.
SATTRIYA: It is a dance-drama performance art with origins in the Krishna-centered Vaishnavism monasteries of Assam, and is attributed to the 15th century Bhakti movement scholar and saint named Srimanta Sankardev.
