The Kanyashree Prakalpa
The Kanyashree Prakalpa is a dream project of the Govt. of West Bengal. 1he basic aim of the project is the upliftment of standard of life for the girl child and to help them pursue education as long as the child wishes. It has, no doubt, proved a great assistance to the children belonging to the poor and poor-middle class families. To get the financial assistance the girl must compulsorily belong to the age group of 13-18 years and she must have enrolled herself in a govenment or government sponsored school. A girl receives a grant of seven hundred fifty rupees every year for the purpose of education so long as she remains unmarried. When a girl turns eighteen, she receives a one time contribution of twenty-five thousand rupees for further study. This project has certainly enjoyed higher number of enrolment of girls in schools. This proiject has been acclaimed internationally as the recipient of the UNSPA Award in 2017. About forty-two lakh girls have been benifited from this project so far.

With the outbreak of Covid-19 virus at Wuhan in China in the month of December 2019, the world was exposed to the severest viral attack of the century. India had the first exposure to Covid-19 in the month of January and in the face of rising crisis , Prime Minister Narendra Modi declared complete lockdown in the country on 23 March 2020. Tourism, business, education and other activities came to a standstill for an uncertain period. Slowly, online classes were arranged by schools and colleges to resume the process of education. Television channels also arranged classes for students. Though it was effective for students living in towns and cities, the students in rural areas with poor network, could not be benefitted from the effort. Important examinations could not be arranged in time and they were either postponed or cancelled. In West Bengal, the Higher Secondary Examination 2020 could not be completed according to the declared schedule. Students areeagerly awaiting their regular classes with the fear of facing an uncertain future.

Ans: Use and Abuse of Mobile Phones Mobile phones are one of the latest inventions of science that has taken the world to storm. This wireless revolution has brought the world within our grip. Now-a-days, both the instrument and the cost of air-time has come down to a great extent, making the people enjoy the benefit of this invention. A mobile phone does not only serve the purpose of communication alone but it also serves as a medium of entertainment and information. A music-lover doesn’t need a music system to listen to the favourite songs, instead he or she can listen to music anywhere during leisure. Most mobile phones now have a megapixel camera. However, a mobile phone is not an unmixed blessing. This small instrument can cause potential damage to the attentiveness of a learner. Excessive use of this instrument can result in fatal diseases like brain tumour etc. Hence a judicious use of this instrument is preterred and suggested.
