[ 1 ] Student life is the stage of preparation for future.This is the most important period of life. A student is young today. But he will be a man tomorrow. He has different duties. He should perform them well. As a student his first duty is to study and learn. He should be careful to his lesson.
ছাত্রজীবন ভবিষ্যতের জন্য প্রস্তুতির কাল। এটা জীবনের সর্বাপেক্ষা গুরুত্বপূর্ণ পর্যায়। একজন ছাত্র আজ তরুণ। কিন্তু আগামী- কালই সে একজন পূর্ণাঙ্গ মানুষে পরিণত হবে। তার বিবিধ কর্তব্য রয়েছে। তার উচিত সেগুলিকে যথাযথভাবে সম্পাদন করা। ছাত্র হিসেবে তার প্রথম কর্তব্য অধ্যয়ন করা ও শেখা। নিজের পাঠ্যবিষয়ের প্রতি তাকে যত্নবান হতে হবে।
[ 2 ] Patriotism is love for one’s country. It is powerful sentiment and wholly unselfish and noble. A patriot can sacrifice even his own life for the good of his country. It is idealism that given courage and strength. But false patriotism is dangerous. It makes a man narrow minded and selfish.
দেশপ্রেম হল নিজের দেশের প্রতি ভালোবাসা। এটা একটি শক্তিশালী আবেগ এবং সম্পূর্ণ- ভাবে নিঃস্বার্থ ও মহান। একজন দেশপ্রেমিক তাঁর দেশের কল্যাণের জন্য তাঁর নিজের জীবনও উৎসর্গ করতে পারেন। এ এমন এক মহান আদর্শবাদ যা উদ্দীপনা আর শক্তি জোগায়। কিন্তু মেকি দেশপ্রেম ভয়ানক। তা মানুষকে সংকীর্ণমনা ও স্বার্থপর করে তোলে।
[ 3 ] Once upon a time two poor wood- cutters were going home through a great forest. It was winter and the night was terrbly cold. The snow lay thick upon the ground and upon the branches of the trees, and the river was still and silent, for it was quite frozen. It was so cold that the animals and birds did not know what to think about it.
একদা দু’জন গরিব কাঠুরিয়া এক বিশাল বনভূমির মধ্য দিয়ে বাড়িতে যাচ্ছিল। সময়টা ছিল শীতকাল এবং সেই রাতটা ছিল ভীষণ ঠান্ডা। রাস্তার ওপর পুরু বরফ পড়েছিল, গাছের শাখাগুলোতে বরফ ছিল এবং নদীর জলধারা ছিল শান্ত ও স্থির কারণ জলও জমে গিয়েছিল। দিনটা এতই ঠান্ডা ছিল যে প্রাণীকূল এবং পাখিরা ভেবেই পাচ্ছিল না তারা কী করবে।
4. Jagadish Chandra Bose showed that there is no difference between the life of plants and in the animals. If we give the plants a blow they feel it and if we make them drink poison , they affected by it like us. Like human beings they also sleep at night and wake up morning They even die like men.
জগদীশচন্দ্র বসু দেখিয়েছিলেন – উদ্ভিদের জীবন এবং প্রাণীর জীবনে কোনো পার্থক্য নেই। যদি আমরা কোনো উদ্ভিদকে আঘাত করি তাহলে তারা তা অনুভব করতে পারে এবং আমরা যদি তাদের বিষপান করাই তবে আমাদের মতো তারাও প্রভাবিত হয়। মানুষের মতোই তারা রাত্রিতে ঘুমোয় এবং সকালে জেগে ওঠে। এমনকি মানুষের মতো তাদেরও মৃত্যু ঘটে।
5. Once a mouse disturbed a lion in his sleep. The lion caught the mouse and was going to kill it; but it begged for pardon and was let to go. Shortly after, the lion was caught in a strong net. Hearing his roar the mouse came there and cut the ropes with its teeth. The lion became free.
একবার একটা ইঁদুর সিংহের ঘুমের ব্যাঘাত ঘটিয়েছিল। সিংহ ইঁদুরটিকে ধরে ফেলে তাকে মারতে উদ্যত হয়েছিল। কিন্তু ইঁদুর প্রাণভিক্ষা করায় সিংহ তাকে ছেড়ে দিয়েছিল। কিছুদিন পরেই সিংহটি একটি শক্ত জালে আবদ্ধ হয়েছিল। তার গর্জন শুনে ইঁদুরটি সেখানে এল এবং দাঁত দিয়ে জাল কেটে দিল। সিংহও মুক্ত হল।
6. Honesty is a great virtue. If you do not deceive others, if you do not tell a lie, if you are stricktly just and fair in your dealings with others, you are an honest man. Honesty is the best policy. An honest man is respected by all. No one can prosper in life if he is not honest.
সততা মহৎ গুণ। যদি তুমি কাউকে প্রতারণা না কর, কাউকে মিথ্যা না বল, যদি তুমি দৃঢ়ভাবে তোমরা আচরণে সঠিক ও ন্যায়- পরায়ণ থাকো তাহলেই তুমি সৎ হিসেবে পরিচিত হবে। সততাই সঠিক পথ। একজন সৎ ব্যক্তি সবার শ্রদ্ধা লাভ করেন। যদি কোনো ব্যক্তি সৎ না হন তাহলে তিনি জীবনে সাফল্য অর্জন করতে পারেন না।
7. Youth is the best time of life. When it is more necessary for us to remember the truth of the Maxim, ‘as you sow, so you reap. This is, as it were , the sowing season of man, and if he wants to reap the harvest of prosperity and happiness he must sow the seeds of industry, virtue, truthful and honesty at this season. Whatever takes root in man at a time first to lasts through the rest of his life and moulds his future.
যুবাবস্থাই জীবনের শ্রেষ্ঠ সময়। এটা যখন আমাদের জন্য খুবই প্রয়োজনীয় তখন সত্যের জন্য শেষক্ষণ পর্যন্ত তাস্মরণ রাখতে হবে। কথায় আছে যেমন বীজ বুনবে তেমন ফসল ফলবে। এটাও বীজ বপনের মতোই মানুষের জীবনের শ্রেষ্ঠ সময়। মানুষ যদি মনে করে উন্নতির বীজ এ সময়ে রোপণ করবে, সুখের সন্ধান লাভ করবে তাহলে পরিশ্রমের, পুণ্যের এবং সততার বীজ তাকে এখনই বুনতে হবে। যা মানুষের এ সময়ে মূল হিসেবে বিস্তৃত হবে সেটাই টিকে থাকবে জীবনের বাকি সময় এবং ভবিষ্যৎকেও করবে সমৃদ্ধ।
8. Now-a-days newspapers has reached almost every house of the towns. Every educated person reads daily newspaper. A man who never reads a newspaper can not keep in touch with the times. We have to know something of what is going on in the world. The main aim of a newspaper is to give us news. But a good newspaper gives us much more than more news.
আজকের দিনে শহরে প্রতিটি বাড়িতে সংবাদপত্র প্রবেশ করেছে। প্রতিটি শিক্ষিত ব্যক্তি এখন প্রতিদিন সংবাদপত্র পড়েন। একজন ব্যক্তি যদি কখনও সংবাদপত্র না পড়েন, তাহলে তিনি সময়ের সঙ্গে তাল রাখতে পারেন না। আজকের পৃথিবী কোন দিকে যাচ্ছে তা জানার জন্যই খবরের কাগজ পড়া দরকার। সংবাদপত্রের কাজই হল বিভিন্ন সংবাদ দেওয়া। কিন্তু একটা ভালো সংবাদপত্র সংবাদের চেয়ে আরও বেশি কিছু দিতে পারে।
