1] Man as an animal, is much weaker than other animals. He has not the strength of the elephant, nor the speed of the horse. But he has a mind such as no other animal has. By his superior intelligence man has learnt to catch and steam great natural forces, as wind, water, fire, steam and electricity. He has used these powers, as his servants.
প্রাণী হিসেবে মানুষ অন্যান্য প্রাণীর থেকে দুর্বল। মানুষের হাতির মতো শক্তি নেই, সে ঘোড়ার মতো দৌড়তেও পারে না। কিন্তু তার একটা মন আছে যা অন্য কোনো প্রাণীর নেই। মানুষ তার বুদ্ধিবৃত্তির বলে শিখেছে প্রাকৃতিক শক্তিকে করায়ত্ত করতে; বাতাস, জল,আগুন, বাষ্প এবং বিদ্যুৎ তার অধীনে। সে এইসব শক্তিকে ভৃত্যের মতো ব্যবহার করেছে।
2] Work is another name of life. Idle persons have no place on the earth. So do not waste your time. Wastage of time means wastage of life. Work and work. If you want to be happy you are to do your duties regularly. Don’t forgot that work is religion.
জীবনের আর এক নাম কর্ম। অলস ব্যক্তির পৃথিবীতে কোনো স্থান নেই। সুতরাং সময় নষ্ট নয়। সময় নষ্ট মানেই জীবন নষ্ট ৷ কাজ শুধু কাজ । যদি তুমি সুখী হতে চাও তাহলে তুমি তোমার কর্তব্য প্রতিদিন করে যাও। ভুলে যেও না কর্মই ধর্ম।
3] Books now play a very important part in the education and culture of a man. But all books are not equally valuable. Some books give us useful knowledge. But there are books which are no books at all and to read them is a mere waste of time. A careful choice of books is, therefore, of vital importance.
বই এখন মানুষের শিক্ষা এবং সংস্কৃতিতে একটি বিশেষ ভূমিকা বহন করছে। কিন্তু সব বইই সমান মূল্যবান নয়। কিছু বই আমাদের প্রয়োজনীয় জ্ঞান সরবরাহ করে। কিন্তু কিছু বই আছে যেগুলি বইই নয় এবং সেগুলি পড়া মানেই সময় নষ্ট করা। যত্ন – সহকারে বই চয়ন তাই প্রধান প্রয়োজন।
4 ] We are Indians. We live in India and work for India. But we should not forget that we belong to the larger family of the world. The people living in other countries are after all our cousin. It would be such an excellent thing if all the people in the world were happy and contened.
আমরা ভারতীয়। আমরা ভারতে বাস করি এবং ভারতের জন্য কাজ করি। কিন্তু একথা ভুললে চলবে না যে পৃথিবীর একটি বৃহৎ পরিবারের আমরা সদস্য। যেসব মানুষ অন্যান্য দেশে বসবাস করছে তারা আমাদেরই ভাই। এটা সত্যিই একটা অত্যাশ্চর্য বিষয় হবে যদি সারা পৃথিবীর সব মানুষ সুখী ও পরিতৃপ্ত হয়।
5 ] As Indians we have to live in India. But we must not forget that we belong to the large family of the world and the people living in other countries are after all our cousins. It would be such an excellent thing if all the people in the world were very happy and contented. We have therefore to try to make the whole world a happier place to live in.
ভারতীয় হিসেবে আমাদের ভারতে থাকতে হবে এবং কিন্তু আমাদের ভুললে চলবে না যে আমরা পৃথিবীর বৃহত্তম মানবগোষ্ঠীর একটা অংশ। অন্যান্য দেশের অধিবাসীরাও আমাদের ভাইয়ের মতো। বিশ্বের সব মানুষই যদি সুখী হতো, সন্তুষ্ট হতো তাহলে তো সেটা হত চমৎকার। আর সেই কারণেই পৃথিবীকে শান্তির নীড় রূপে গড়ে তোলার চেষ্টা করতে হবে আমাদের।
